2022 Inbound – FF of Kansas USA

 Journey #22561

FFNEO Hosting Journey Coordinator
Mary Moczulski
8/24 to 8/30/22

In August, FFNEO welcomed eleven FF of Kansas Ambassadors from in and around the Wichita area.  For some of them, it was their first visit to Ohio and we were eager to show them NE Ohio hospitality.  We Hosts and Members were happy but not surprised to hear the Ambassadors agreeing that they were ending their journey with a far greater appreciation for what a ‘gem’ NE Ohio is and welcoming us for a future visit to Kansas.

Here are a FEW of the highlights of things that we saw and did…

8/24 – on the day of Kansas arrivals, FFNEO arranged casual meet-and-greets at the homes of members
8/25 – our Welcome Picnic was on a beautiful afternoon at Mentor Headlands State Park on Lake Erie’s southern shore
8/25 – our evening group meal was in NE Ohio’s wine country at Grand River Cellars Winery
8/26 was a busy day having guided back-stage tours of Playhouse Square and Severance Hall. In the evening, five returned to Playhouse Square for the performance of Frozen
8/27 Ambassadors Lynn and Susan during a guided tour of Stan Hywet Hall in Akron, family home of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company co-founder,  Frank Siberling
8/28 centered around activities of One World Day at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens and museums of University Circle. Here, Curtis from Kansas and Aggie from FFNEO are enjoying the Cleveland Museum of Art
During ‘free’ time, a number of Ambassadors and Hosts visited the annual Asian Lantern Festival at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
During ‘free’ time, Hosts Mike (and Pat) with Ambassadors Susan and Lynn at one of six Cleveland signature signs, this one with Cleveland’s downtown skyline in the distance
8/29 – after getting to know one another over the week, the Farewell Dinner had lots of laughs and stories.  This photo is of our six wonderful host families
